Fabrication research projects of soft robotics applications in underwater propulsion and surgical robotics

Underwater Robotics - Tail Propulsion

The aim of this project was to research novel ways to propel underwater robots

During the summer of 2013, I worked in the Olin Intelligent Vehicles Lab as a Research Engineer on the robotic tuna project. My role was to develop soft actuators (bladders) to oscillate the tail. Fabricating the bladders required complex multi-part molds and casting protocols. See a sped up clip of tail oscillation.
